Silja Elsabet is a mezzo soprano from Iceland. She was born in the Westman Islands, an Island on the south-west coast of Iceland on the 15th of August in 1991. She has a Bachelors degree from Royal Academy of Music in London and an Advanced Diploma from the prestigious opera course at the Royal Academy. Silja graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Opera performance in July 2021.
On the operatic stage Silja has sung roles such as Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas), Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), Hippolyta (A midsummer night’s dream), The third lady (Die Zauberflöte) and Czipra (Der Zigeunerbaron).
Silja is an established singer in her native country. She won the Ungir einleikarar competition in Iceland, which gives young musicians the opportunity to perform in concert with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra. She has also appeared in a number of concerts in Harpa concert hall. She released a solo CD recording in January 2021 with 24 songs by Oddgeir Kristjánsson, a beloved composer from her hometown Vestmannaeyjar.
